KU IT provides a variety of accounts to support units and departments. Please select from the links below to manage departmental email, resource accounts, sponsored temporary accounts and departmental website and database accounts.
Departmental Email Accounts
Departmental email accounts are associated with a task or function. Departmental accounts are owned by the department or organization and must be renewed annually (fall semester). Examples of departmental accounts include "firstname.lastname@example.org," "email@example.com" and "firstname.lastname@example.org."

Request a Departmental Email Account - Please Note: The request form has changed to reflect a new standard for departmental email accounts (see below for details).
New Standard for Departmental Email Accounts
All new departmental email accounts are now being set up using a new “no password” standard. Instead of using shared passwords, customers are assigned automatic access to departmental accounts within the system. Group administrators are able to manage permission and delegates via groups.ku.edu.
Benefits of the new standard include:
- Password not needed for access
- No need to remember multiple passwords for different departmental accounts
- Better security because passwords aren’t shared
- Group administrators can add and remove members via groups.ku.edu without contacting KU IT
Departmental Resource Accounts
Departmental resource accounts are Microsoft Exchange accounts for specific rooms or equipment. Once a departmental resource account has been established for a room or piece of equipment, users can schedule the resource just like participants via Microsoft Outlook meeting invites.
Sponsored Temporary Accounts
Sponsored Temporary Accounts provide access to KU online services for campus temporary hires (non-HR), contractors, vendors, guests, groups, etc. Visit Sponsored Temporary Accounts for account requests and more information.
Departmental Website Accounts
All official KU units/departments can request a content management system (CMS) website account. Student organizations and individuals are not eligible for CMS accounts.

Designed for non-technical users, KU's content management system (CMS) is a software platform that enables users to easily build and maintain websites. The CMS provides KU website managers the capability to create engaging sites regardless of their skill level. The CMS is robust enough to allow experienced web developers to incorporate customized features, but is simple enough for novice users to quickly begin managing a site. Built on the Drupal platform, the CMS helps ensure a better user experience for our stakeholders through more consistent navigation and branding, more dynamic, media-rich content and easier access to the information they need.
