How to reserve a computer classroom
- Log in to the Technology Training Workshops page.
- Click on "Labs" in the top menu.
- Click on "request a reservation of one of the Lawrence Campus reservable labs" or "request a reservation of one of the Edwards Campus labs."
- Complete and submit the reservation form.
Computer labs can be reserved by University of Kansas faculty, GTAs, staff and staff/student organizations for classes or KU affiliated events. Besides workstations, IT labs have other resources. Please read the following to make a reservation for one of the IT Computer Labs:
If you need special software or document files for your class, please let IT staff know when you make your reservation. We will make every effort to have the software/files you provide on the computer classroom machines or on the lab server. Some restrictions apply to the installation of special software. All installed software must be licensed. Please allow us time to review and install all software. Two to three weeks should be sufficient. Contact the IT-CSC (4-8080) for details.
Note: Some ADA equipment and software can be made available for classes. If you have students with special needs, please inform PCS when you make your reservation so we can make additional arrangements if necessary. This will require extra time to be made available.
Make sure you have the following information about your class/event:
- Your name, phone number and email address
- The location you would like to reserve
- The time and date you want to reserve the computer classroom, as well as alternate times
- The class name or course number, or other information describing the event or organization using the facility
- The number of people you expect will attend the class
- Any equipment, software or files you will need at the time of the class/event

After you have made your computer classroom reservation, you will receive an email confirming your reservation and all software and equipment requests. If, after making your reservation, you need to make any changes, please reply to that email. If you do not receive an email within a week of placing your reservation, please contact the IT-CSC (4-8080).
Your reservation should appear on the schedule posted outside the computer classroom you have reserved, as well as online. If there are people in the classroom when you arrive, announce that the classroom is reserved for a class, and that they will need to find machines elsewhere in the lab. Give them several minutes advance warning, so they can save their files and collect their things. However, do not ask anyone to leave more than 15 minutes before your reservation. If you have problems with students not exiting the classroom, contact Lab staff.
KU computer labs use a process of authentication to allow students, staff, and faculty (anyone with a KU online ID) access to the computers. This is the "log-in" that users must do to use the computers.
Budig Hall labs have laser printers available. Paper is provided, but printing costs are charged to the individual by default.
If you move extra chairs into the computer classroom, please see that they are returned to their previous location.
The Budig Instructional Lab is currently priority based, in that the IT Technology Instruction & Engagement and Educational Technology groups have first priority for reservations due to this being their primary training facility. Reservations may be held for some time before being approved. Contact the IT-CSC if you have questions.
Reservations are accepted at any time, and are dealt with in a timely manner. Reservations for future semesters are dealt with in the month and weeks preceding the start of that semester, to allow all groups and parties the opportunity to submit reservations. All attempts are made to accommodate as many requests as possible.
Every effort is made to keep computers operable in the computer classrooms. However, because of hardware and software problems, some machines may not be available. Report computer problems to lab staff in person or email the email@example.com. Provide the name of the lab, computer number (available on the front of the machine, eg., PClab05), and a description of the problem.
