Skype for Business on Mobile Devices

Overview of the Skype for Business (formerly Lync 2013) Mobile App

Microsoft offers a free mobile app for Skype for  Business. With the Microsoft Skype for Business mobile app, KU students, faculty, and staff can:

  • Change availability and social update
  • Find contacts at KU
  • Instant message
  • Make video or voice calls when connected to Wi-Fi
  • Make phone calls using their KU phone number
  • Listen to voicemail
  • Join the IM, video, and voice portion of an online Skype for Business meetings when connected to Wi-Fi. You will be unable to see collaborative content such as whiteboards, presentation slides, etc.

Important note:  Skype for Business works best when you are only signed in to one device at a time. This is because by default Skype for Business will send your communications to one endpoint or device—whichever it thinks that you are currently using. Remember to sign out of your smartphone or tablet when using Skype for Business on your computer.
